Real Men Read
IMPROVING CHILD SUCCESS THROUGH LITERACY & MENTORSHIP
Real Men Read places a positive male role model in front of every kindergarten student in Putnam County and encourages children and families to celebrate reading. We provide the means for personal library ownership by providing each child a free book each month during the program.
By specifically working with kindergarten students, we are contributing to the educational success of children during one of the most important years of cognitive development.
“Real Men Read is an awesome program that promotes the love of reading throughout our community. My students get very excited when our reader comes. They are engaged and can take a copy of the story home to share what they had read and learned at school. The program shows the students that men in our community think that reading is just as important to them as it is in the classroom. Having a male role model in the classroom helps students to understand that others in the community care about them and want them to be good readers. Real Men Read helps to foster impressionable young students into lifelong readers.
